At the beginning of the workshop, students are introduced to basic business concepts, setting the foundation for practical application.
Using our proprietary learning tool, Boba Mania, they work in groups of four, either in the classroom or a hall, actively applying these concepts through an interactive, hands-on simulation that introduces them to accounting and business concepts. Throughout the experience, students strengthen critical thinking by analysing trade-offs and making strategic choices. They also develop negotiation and communication skills while responding effectively to changing business scenarios.
To wrap up, a debrief reinforces key learning points, helping students leave with a clearer understanding of business concepts and decision-making skills.
The workshop runs for 1.5 hours by default, with flexible options to extend to 2 hours or shorten to 1 hour to suit your schedule.
This workshop is designed for secondary and post-secondary students who want to understand how decisions impact business performance. It provides a practical, simulation-based learning experience that introduces key concepts in Principles of Accounting and Elements of Business Skills.
We use printed cards alongside a learning application to simulate real-world business experiences. The Boba Mania card game adds a tech-savvy twist to traditional gameplay, letting students use iPads to scan QR codes and navigate in-app business scenarios. This interactive approach transforms learning into an engaging, hands-on journey toward mastering business decision-making skills.
Entrepreneurship is the process of identifying opportunities, creating value, and taking calculated risks to develop and grow a business. It involves innovation, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making, while learning to manage resources, customers, and operations effectively.
The Smart Business Workshop was developed in collaboration with the Principles of Accounts teachers’ community and Elements of Business Skills subject experts. Feedback from polytechnic educators and students from the School of Business was incorporated to ensure the content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with curriculum standards. The workshop also draws on over 20 years of entrepreneurship experience from SmartCo’s founder, bringing practical, real-world insights into the learning experience.
